OUTDOOR PAINTING CLASSES IN MEXICO
LAKE PATZCUARO, MICHOACAN
For Beginners and Advanced Students
Mid Oct 2008
We will fly together to the colonial town of Guanajuato. Declared a 'world heritage site' by UNESCO, it boasts stunning vistas and a festive, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
After four days our hosts drive us to their ranch in the midst of the indigenous countryside on Lake Pazcuaro in Michoacan. Heartland of the ancient Purepucha empire, the lake is surrounded by pyramids and a vibrant indigenous culture. Craftspeople, farmers, colonial towns and the gorgeous countryside are our subjects. Our host Arminda Flores is a gourmet, Mexican cook.
We will spend time in the nearby colonial town of Patzcuaro that climbs the hillside above the Lake. This town contains some of the finest early colonial architecture in Mexico and a strong indigenous community. It is an interesting contrast to Guanajuato.
